Earlier this month I got some really fantastic news.......I've won an award for my Photography!
I entered a Photomarathon a few weeks back run by the Glasgow Herald and East Renfrewshire Council and at the awards ceremony on the 2nd November I was delighted when it was announced that I was one of three winners!! I can't express how proud I was when I had to go up and accept my award in front of a packed audience.
Now you are probably wondering what a Photomarathon is? Well it started at 10am one Saturday morning, when I was given the first topic to shoot. Each hour on the hour thereafter I was given a further topic. In total I had six topics to interpret. All images had to be shot, processed and submitted no later than Midnight on the day of the competition. Quite a challenge I can tell you and it certainly got my creative juices flowing!
Now what makes this award particularly special for me (apart from the fact I won against some really strong photographers and all three of the judges are very successful and inspirational pro's) is that all six images are judged on Creativity, Innovation and Interpretation of the Subject, in other words one good photo isn't enough you have to be consistently good! (This fits really well with what a typical wedding shoot is like also)
On Sunday the 4th November I found myself attending a photoshoot for the Glasgow Herald and unusually for me, I was on the other side of the camera. I'm definitely more comfortable behind the camera it has to be said, however it was fantastic seeing what the Herald's photographer did in terms of direction and posing. The feature ran in the Herald on Wednesday 7th November - I'll forgive you if you missed it, I think some election in America was happening at the time : )
Here are the images I submitted (subject topic noted below each image)
